Firmware Engineer

Amsterdam, Netherlands Engineering - Software Team Full-Time

The Role

Skyborn Robotics is looking for an engineer to develop highly performant embedded firmware for our robots. We see two major hurdles to adoption in the robotics industry: cost and ease of use. We’re developing low-cost, AI-powered robots built atop our high-performance, data-rich embedded control scheme.

The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of embedded development. The ideal candidate is proficient in C and has strong experience developing and debugging performant, bare metal embedded applications. The candidate is also familiar with most embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Serial, CAN, and EtherCAT.  We’re hiring for all levels from a recent graduate to an experienced engineer looking to grow and lead the team. Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in C
  • Experience developing bare-metal applications for embedded microcontrollers
  • Experience with embedded communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, Serial, CAN and EtherCAT
  • Emphasis on strong development practices: git, GitHub, CI/CD, unit testing

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with STM32 Microcontrollers
  • Experience with mechatronics
  • Experience with C+/+ and/or Python
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, JTAG debugger, etc.

  • The job is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but you can expect to join an international, multicultural team, and we offer extensive relocation support.
